Alma M Whartenby

Alma knew that to err on the side of generosity is seldom an error. Always charitable with her time, when she saw a need she filled it. As the former secretary for St. Peter’s in Riverside, her days were dedicated to the church. But her commitment never ended with the work day: she served as the president of the PTA and the Altar & Rosary Society, helped start the annual carnival and ran fundraising events such as fashion shows and banquets. She enjoyed traveling, and although her younger years saw her planning trips across the country, in her later years she preferred relaxing on a cruise ship. rn Alma was the wife of the late Joseph. Before his passing in 2005, their 64 years of marriage were blessed by their children: Ronald (Hisako) of Japan and Janet Andretta (Ronald) of Palmyra, and again by their grandchildren: Richard, Michelle and Peter as well as by their two great-grandchildren.rn Come celebrate Alma’s 90 generous years (March 4, 1921-July 13, 2011) Saturday from 8:30 AM to 10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (St. Peter’s Site), Riverside. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.rn –
