Denise Marie Valente

August 2, 1958 to July 17, 2021

Join us in celebrating Denise’s life, and birthday on August 2, 6-7:30pm at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro St., Riverside, NJ 08075. Service at 7:30pm.

Denise was born at Riverside hospital in 1958 to Frances and Delores Nelms. She along with her younger brother, grew up in Delanco, NJ. Denise was the apple of her parents’ eye. So much so, they applied to Gerber to have her considered as a baby model. Denise was also a graduate of Riverside High School – go Maroon!

Out of high school, Denise married Nicholas Valente of Delran, NJ. The pair, with pup Ziggy in tow, purchased a home in Pennsauken, NJ. There they started a family of their own. As a homemaker, Denise was always there for her children, as well as the children of her close friends, and family.

In the community, Denise was a member of the Pennsauken P.T.A, a P.Y.A.A. soccer mom, and a member of St. Stephen’s parish. As a friend and family member, Denise always did her best to bring the people in her life together. Many barbeques, birthdays, and holidays were hosted at her home.

When she had time to herself, Denise enjoyed crafting, ceramics, and decorating. She was also involved in doll making, and enjoyed letting her hair down with girlfriends. It was not uncommon to find Denise enjoying a cigarette while chatting on the phone, or watching a good television drama.

While Multiple Sclerosis stole Denise’s prime, she was still able to find enjoyment in some of the most important things in life. Thanks to the dedicated, and loving care provided by her husband, and caregiver, Denise was able to watch her children and grandchildren grow up. She continued to enjoy the children and grandchildren of her friends and family, participated in many family gatherings, and ate sweets – lots of yummy sweets. All things that she loved.

The family would like to thank everyone who has joined us in this time of mourning, and celebration of Denise’s life. Her presence will be missed. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: https://mssociety.donordrive.com/campaign/Denise-Valente
