Dennis McCann

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father Dennis McCann, on July 27, 2022, in Marlton NJ. Dennis was born and raised in Philadelphia. He attended St. Helena’s Parish School in Olney and Cardinal Dougherty High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Penn State University in Recreation and Parks and went on to be the Director of Community Centers in Riverside, NJ, Conshohocken PA, and St. Francis in LBI.

His second career of almost thirty years was that USPS Letter Carrier where he also served for extended terms as president of the NACL Letter Carriers Union and was a proud Democrat.

“Reds” as he was known, was a scratch golfer for many years, and would often have scores in the 70’s.

He was an avid sports fan and always loyal to the local teams especially the Phillies and the Eagles. Always optimistic and outgoing he had special talent for forecasting the local weather with great accuracy.

He is predeceased by two of his siblings, Jim McCann, and Janellen Anskis. He is survived by his sisters Maryann Zielinski and Reenee McCann along with his children, Hope McCorristin, Corrin Heckman-McCann and Luke McCann, and his grandsons, Paul McCorristin, Graham Heckman and Sawyer Heckman.

A public memorial will be held on September 7th, 10am – Noon at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside, New Jersey 08075
