Rita Scafiro

Rita Scafiro (nee Capone) passed away peacefully on September 18, 2022. She born in Riverside to Joseph and Grace Capone in 1923.  She was married to the love of her of life, Carmen for 48 wonderful years before he passed in 1990.  She is survived by her daughter Rita Nickum (Rich), son Joe (Linda), sons Carmen and Richard.  She was preceded in death by her daughters-in-law Sharon Scafiro and Debra Scafiro.  Rita was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt.  She has ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Rita was a warm nurturer who loved nothing more than preparing large holiday and family dinners.  One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.
Rita was dedicated to her Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Parish in Riverside.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 8:30am-10:00am at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Cinnaminson NJ. Interment St. Peters Cemetery, Riverside.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you donate in Rita’s name to the charity of your choice.
