Robert R. Maher

Just before dawn on the 28th of May 2022, Robert Raymond Maher age 70 of Delran, NJ made his journey across the river, or maybe it was the crick [krik].
Bob was born on the 12th of February 1952, in Riverside, NJ. The 3rd of 5 children. The younger, hell-raising son, born to Saint Millie, and Jim “Pop” Maher.
Bob graduated from Riverside High School, class of 1970. Volunteering for and shipping off for the US Navy in the same year, he served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as a Machinist’s Mate.
Returning home in 1974, he began his civilian career at Hoeganaes Corp. of Cinnaminson NJ. Garnering a reputation as an expert welder, an all-around hard worker, and plant news herald. He put in 30 years of service that was eventually derailed by a shifting economy. The next few years he toiled in less than desirable jobs to continue providing for the family, eventually landing a Special Projects position at NWL Transformers in Bordentown, NJ where he spent the next 15 years making countless friends, and fond memories.
After a quick courtship, Bob married the love of his life, Eileen Powers on the 17th of September 1977. Together they raised two children, Colleen, and Robbie.
Bob lived to hunt whitetail, fish striped bass and flounder, bust balls, and bat the breeze with his favorite people. Enriching the lives of family and friends alike, always there to help when any issue arose be it mechanical or emotional, he was a model of discipline, and strength. A hero to those who called. Undeniably a great man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. The Standard.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Jim, his Mother Mildred, sister in-law Rose Sileo, brother in-law Jimmy Hepner, as well as his best friends, Harry Etsell (also brother in-law), and Rusty Rivers. Survived by his love Eileen, daughter Colleen (Michael) Mader, son Robbie (Jenny) Maher, grandsons Bobby, and Declan Maher, granddaughters, Annabelle Maher, and Livy Mader. Siblings Jimmy (Marty) Maher, Christine Etsell, Jane Maher, Joan (Steve) Kerstetter, Powers in-laws; Ginger Hepner, Neil (Linda) Powers, Madelyn (Carl) Brozis, and Theresa Powers. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of which had their place in his heart.
There are to be no services, no flowers to be sent. He was adamant that there be no fussing over him. If you would like to honor him, and you have the ability, get out in nature. Fix something. Help someone. Do your best to enjoy this fleeting life and brighten the hearts of those around you.
