Robert “Raider Rob” H. Swain

June 9th 1965-May 25th 2022

Rob, Robert, Robbie (never Bob) was born and raised in the town of Beverly, NJ where he attended Palmyra High School and graduated with the “Class of 1982.“ He was an avid member of the Beverly Athletic Club for many years. Rob worked as the Superintendent of Melting at Griffin Pipe Foundry in Florence, New Jersey for 20 years. He was a tough looking guy, who worked hard and always wanted to provide for and protect his family. For the past 18 years Rob worked at The Boeing Company as a Logistics Specialist.

Robbie loved football all his life and was #61 on the Palmyra High School football team. His love for football was constant and ran deep and everyone knew him as a die-hard Raiders fan, which earned him his life-long nickname “Raider Rob.” In his earlier years, he took this love for the game and coached Beverly City Pop Warner. His passion for athletics and love for his son lead him to be a coach for the Rancocas Valley Youth Lacrosse Team.

Later in life, Rob enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Food Network, and whittling. In recent years, he became an avid wood-worker and developed a passion for and creating hand-carved walking sticks and canes. Rob could typically be found at home listening to talk radio or Howard Stern and he was a huge fan of Frank Zappa and the Beastie Boys. He was a frequent shopper at PAC a SAC for his daily boost. Rob could always be found putting cheese on everything, and ending his night with a pint of vanilla ice cream and some Reeses.

Rob was a loving husband and father and he had a large family who he loved very much. He was known around the community for being a fun-loving, big guy, with an even bigger heart. Rob is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Diane and two sons, Zachary and Joshua.

Come celebrate 57 years on Tuesday from 3-5 pm, with a service at 5 pm, at Sweeney Funeral Home, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Palmyra Pals Football via Venmo @PPYA-Football or Paypal @palmyrafootball.
