Clair J. Nenno

Clair J. Nenno

If it’s true that he who loves his county best, strives to make it best, than Clair strove to make his county, community and family the best. After experiencing the open waters aboard the USS Midway during WWII he planted his feet in Riverside. How fortunate for the town that he was anxious to serve on the Township Committee, Riverside Fire Company and Emergency Squad, the Red Cross Executive Committee, and was a member of the Beverly Rotary Club. More than a daily communicant at St. Peter’s, he was a lector, active with the Holy Name Society and was former president of the St. Vincent DePaul Conference. Like any true Riversidian his professional career started at the Watchcase Factory. He also worked for Phila. Gas Works, and eventually he became Postmaster for Riverside and later for Beverly.rn A stroke of luck befell Clair when he was asked to fill in for a friend on a double date. It was here he’d meet his wife of 62 years, Josephine (nee DiLuzio). They’d be blessed with their children Richard (Shirley) of Hamilton, Janet Binnachio (Michael) of Riverside, and David (Joan) of Burlington City, and again with their 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Clair is survived by his brother Paul of FL., sister Jean Higley of OH and several nieces and nephews.rn Come celebrate 83 organized years Tuesday 8-10:30 AM at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 at St. Peter’s. Interment St. Peter’s Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o Jesus the Good Sheppard Church 101 Middleton St. Riverside, NJ 08075.rn
