Domenic J .Maratea, 95, of Riverside, NJ passed away March 21, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Nicoletta and his wife of 55 year Martha (Moloney). For 55 years Dominic was owner and director of Maratea Medical Laboratory in Riverside, NJ. Dominic served in the U.S. Army during World War II achieving the rank of senior non-commissioned officer at Pine Camp, NY. Dominic was past president of the New Jersey Society of Medical Technologist, and in 1960 was the recipient of their national distinguished achievement award for his contribution to the field of medical technology. rnIn addition to his laboratory business, Dominic served on the boards The Mechanics National Bank in Burlington and Burlington County Savings and Loan in Beverly, NJ. He was also an incorporator of the Burlington County Bank in Edgewater Park, NJ. During the 1970′s Domenic served as vice-president and member of the board of the Georgetown Raceway in Georgetown, DE.rnHe was a member of the American Legion Post #146, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1436, the Riverside and Friendly Seniors Group. He was a parishioner of St. Peters Church in Riverside, NJ and a member of the Holy Name Society. rn During the war, a friend introduced Dom to a young woman named Martha Moloney. Shortly after, their 56 wonderful years of marriage would begin. Before she passed in 2000, their lives were blessed with their children: M. Jane Furman (Lew) of MD, James M. (Linda) of Merchantville and Nancy Hutnick (Charles) of Riverside and again with their grandchildren: Michael and Jennifer Furman, Melissa and Brian Stilts, Jennifer and Jim Karpinski, Jill and Michael Forte, Patrick Maratea, David Hutnick (Lindsay Stutzman) and Bradley Hutnick (Jennifer Laks). Domenic is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers John and Anthony, his sister Mary Ramsey and his sister-in-law Mary Maratea and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jemma Casciella and his brothers, Joseph and Frank. He will be missed by his dear friend Pat MacIntosh and friend and former employee, Pat Fynan.rnCome celebrate 95 purposeful years (8/15/1914 – 3/21/2010) Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 9:30-10:30 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass 11 AM Thursday at St. Peter’s Church, Riverside. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery.
