Gertrude Pippitt

Much like when Samuel Johnson commented “to be happy at home is the ultimate result of all ambition”, Trudy was always happiest in her abode. It was here, that in her younger years she raised her children. She was known to use her sewing skills to make their clothes herself, and even matching outfits for her daughter’s dolls. When the kids got too loud, she didn’t yell; rather she would play her piano until her impromptu “forced concert” had their undivided attention. When blessed with grandchildren, she delighted in knitting them sweaters and hats and even taught one how to ride his bike. Even in her later years she didn’t stray from what made her happiest; she could often be found enjoying an evening at home, lounging in her recliner.rn As a young woman, Trudy was working in a hospital in Trenton, when a couple was admitted with minor injuries from an accident. The young man wrote a note to his girlfriend and had his friend, Edwin Pippitt deliver it. True to his word, he delivered the note, but was introduced to Trudy in the process. Before long, the two were wed. Together their lives were blessed by their children: Mark Pippitt (Carolyn) of Massachusetts and Edwina “Wynne” Pfeffer (Fred) of Riverside, as well as their grandchildren: Erin Donnelly-Hogge, Brendan Donnelly (Elizabeth), Holly Anne Pippitt and Laurie E. Pippitt as well as by their great-grandchildren, Audrey and Addison Hogge. She is also survived by her brother Karl Bauer and sister Gretchen Schaeffer. She was predeceased by her brother Maximillian Bauer and her sister Mary Ann Born.rn Come celebrate Trudy’s 86 wonderful years (May 17, 1926-June 10, 2012) Thursday from 9-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (St. Peter’s Site), Riverside. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
