Leonard Wendowski

Leonard Edwin Wendowski, Sr. of Easton, Maryland went to his heavenly rest on Saturday, February 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was 87.
Born on August 2, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents, Ignatius Joseph and Frances (Banach) Wendowski.
As a young man, Leonard served proudly in the United States Naval Reserves for two years active duty during the Korean Conflict and was stationed on a Destroyer, “The Benham”. After returning from deployment, Len and Kay were married on June 4, 1955, following Kay’s graduation from nursing school. Len was a graduate of Drexel University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. He served 12 years on the Easton Town Council and also two terms on the Board of Upper Shore Aging, one of which he served as President. Len was most recently on the Board of Directors of the Easton Club Community Association until December of 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen; their four sons: Leonard E., Jr. (Kathy), Joseph (Jenn), Steven (Kim), and Thomas (Faith); seven grandchildren: Michael (Erin), Brian (Jacquie), Sgt. Leonard E., III (Bianca), Alexis and Gillian Wendowski, and Rebecca and Christopher Wendowski; and eight great-grandchildren: Hailey May, Jasmin, Jacob, Kinsley, Jeremy, Dylan, Dieqan, Trinity Eve.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Sweeney Funeral Home 478 Cooper Street, Beverly, New Jersey 08010 and on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church 1210 S Washington St. Easton, MD, where a Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be private.
