Margaret Sarlo

(January 26, 1941 - September 1, 2013)

Margaret fulfilled the ancient proverb that “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers”. To say that she took her duties as a homemaker seriously would be a gross understatement. At her home in Moorestown there was never a task left undone. She’d think nothing of doing five loads of laundry a day, and that included ironing everything from shirts to boxers. Likewise, she was able to make just about anything for her home and family. Everything from her drapes to her daughter’s childhood clothing to Halloween costumes for her sons in their younger years came from her sewing machine. When it came to the grandkids one set of anything was never enough; when she made them anything they’d be one for their home, one for when they were with her and one for when they were on vacation. Her cooking skills were unparalleled. Whenever they were having a get-together it would be unheard of for her to use a caterer. Regardless of the number of people she was always ready to prepare a feast, and it was always made from scratch.
In her younger years, Margaret was ice skating at Strawbridge Lake in Moorestown when she met a young man named Bernard. She wasn’t particularly fond of him at first, but with some tenacity Bernie was able to win her over. Before his passing earlier this year, their many years of marriage were blessed by their children: Denise Gonshery of Moorestown, Dr. Frank Sarlo (Michael Resnick) of Philadelphia and Christopher Sarlo (Kristen) of Medford, and again by their grandchildren: James and Colin Gonshery and Codi, Jaylyn, Elaina, Marielle, Preston and Brandon Sarlo.
