Olga Parker

rnIn 1963 her late husband, Joe, told her she was moving to Broad Street. In anticipation she brushed up on the mummers strut only to later find out that there was a Swedesboro Broad Street. The move from a major metropolis to a tiny town was culture shock, but she became a fixture in her community. She was stubborn and feisty but had a huge heart and love for kids. She became a substitute grandmother to the kids she baby-sat and beamed with pride when she attended their graduations. As a single mother she needed to be firm: question her reasons for her decisions and you’d likely hear her common refrain: “Cause I’m the Mom.” It’s how she was known to everyone she met and she was sure to meet everyone. Even on vacation when she wasn’t decorating her space to make it her own she was meeting and greeting. After a one week stay she was on a first name basis with an entire campground.rnShe is survived by her children Anthony DiFebbo (Judy), Angel Bowens (Steve), Nelda Amatuzzi (William) and Jessie Atkinson (Dave); 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her companion, Gilbert Mendoza.rnCome celebrate 75 maternal years Tuesday 6-8 pm and Wednesday form 10:00 am at Daley Life Celebration Studio 1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro where there will be a 11:00 am service.
