William G Burris

William G. Burrisrn It was fitting that Captain Bill owned a boat named Straight Arrow, it reflected how he lived his life. He knew that integrity was much easier kept than recovered. As the owner and original founder of Burris Construction in Mt. Laurel, he was always known to be a man of his word. His handshake was more binding than any written contract. A self-confessed workaholic, he was never happier than when he saw a line of concrete trucks getting ready to start the day. His employees knew they always had a stable job, so long as they could keep up with him. When it came to retirement, Bill was no less energetic. He didn’t waste away the time in a porch rocking chair. As a matter of fact, if you tried to get him by phone, you were likely to hear his answering machine state that he was “either fishing, golfing or laying by the pool.” When he wasn’t baiting hooks or putting for par, he could be found making his own wine. Not only did he enjoy it himself, in keeping with his generous personality he gave it away to family and friends. rn As a young man, returning home after serving in the Marines, Bill met a young woman named Patricia (nee Williams) at a local dance. Before her passing in 2011, their 56 year marriage was blessed by their children: William (Linda) of Moorestown, Nancy DeAngelis (Libero) of Shamong, Scott (Elizabeth) of Marlton and Daniel of Hainesport, and again by their grandchildren: Billy, Tracy, Johnny, Amy, Kristin, Patty, Kellie, Alexandra, Michael, Zachary and Devon. Bill is also survived by his great-granddaughter Gianna Taylor DeAngelis, his brothers: Dennis and Donald Burris and his sisters: Carol Ann Imhoff (Francis) and Irene Gares (Dr. Gerald).rn Come celebrate Bill’s 79 wonderful years (May 23, 1932-April 6, 2012) Wednesday from 11 to Noon at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1 Winchester Ct., Tabernacle, NJ 08088, where the service will be at Noon.
