William J. Preston, III

William J. Preston, III

Although Bill had a big stature, it was always dwarfed by the size of his heart. If he found out someone was in need, he always found a way to fix the problem. If you didn’t have a roof over your head he’d provide one, if you couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for your family he’d secretly provide them and if he heard you were having car troubles you might have just found him in your driveway. He loved flea markets, yard sales and come trash day he found hidden gems on every street. Even when something was broken, he could either fix it or salvage parts to fix one of his many other projects. It was fitting then, that when he served in the US Navy, he was a member of the Seabees and he worked for many years for IBEW 351. But, his true passion was his family. From the days when he took his kids on long Sunday drives, which always ended with ice cream to when he endlessly spoiled his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nothing made him happier.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda (nee Houghton) of Delanco, his children: Wendy J. Preston of Delanco, Sandra J. Preston of Riverside, William J. Preston, IV (Karen M.) of New Egypt and Jonathan W. Preston of Delanco, his grandchildren: William, Denise, John and Joseph and his great-grandchildren: Isabella, Jayce and Elizabeth. He is also the brother of Josephine Coffield, John Preston (Janet), James Preston and the late Viola Preston.
