David W. Burbage Sr.

David W. Burbage Sr, 75, of New Albany, PA, passed away in his home with family by his side on Wednesday, October 23.

Dave was born in Charleston, SC, on March 4th, 1944 to William “Tom” and Twella Burbage. Dave was one of four boys. Bill, Dave, Gordon, and Lyndsay.

Dave was a four year letterman at Riverside High School in NJ, excelling in track as well as football. Dave married his life-long sweetheart that he was with since the fifth grade. He and Dorothy were married for over 50 years, before her passing in 2017. He enlisted to serve our country in Vietnam, and was a two-tour veteran in Special Warfare Group – Beach Jumpers. Dave later attended RCA training school and went to work for PSE&G in Moorestown, NJ, and then became a Senior Supervisor at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station. He enjoyed hunting, his 1966 Bronco, his beautiful farm in New Albany, and traveling with family. Dave was very active with Veterans Organizations, including the VFW, Am-Vets, and the American Legion. He also proudly served as the Commander of Post 996 of the American Legion in Dushore, PA.

Dave is survived by his daughter Brenda, son Dave Jr, grand children Tyler, David, and Ally, and most recently, great grandson Ashton. Other surviving family includes his brother Lyndsay, and in-laws the Lipkas and Dansers. His memory also lives on with all of his friends, family, neighbors, and dear friends at the Monroeton Gun Club and Towanda Gun Club.

Services to be held Thursday 11am – 1pm, 10/31/2019, at Sweeney Funeral Home in Riverside, NJ, followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Riverside NJ.

In lieu of flowers, please have a drink with a dear friend, and raise a glass to our father. Flowers will wilt, but friendships last forever.
