Melanie Ann Reiter

Melanie Ann Reiter (nee Musa), 53, passed suddenly on December 9, 2022, at home in Edgewater Park, NJ. She was the fiancé of Michael A. Toner.
Melanie was a quiet, gentle soul who loved being outdoors whether she was camping, boating, canoeing, motorcycling, or just sitting in the sunshine watching her beloved cats. Melanie liked yellow daffodils, red cardinals, Eagles Football, and the music of the Beatles and Stevie Nicks. As the mother of six children, Melanie was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She also worked part-time at various local food establishments.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, Melanie was raised in both Mississippi, and later, Southern New Jersey. While living in Mississippi, Melanie was a member of the Singing River YMCA, where she swam and traveled with the swim team. She later taught private swim lessons to young children. Melanie graduated from Rancocas Valley High School, Mt. Holly, in 1987. She attended Gordon Phillips Beauty School in Collingswood, NJ.
She is survived by her fiancé, Michael A. Toner, and their three young adult children, Joshua, Jen, and Joseph Toner, all at home, and a son, Dennis Reiter, of Beverly, NJ. She is also survived by her mother, Judith Marcell Musa Shedaker, of Virginia. Melanie was very recently predeceased by her father, the late William Eddie Musa, of Mississippi.
Melanie is also survived by two siblings, Theodore, of Florida, and Susan (Bill) Murphy, of Delaware, and was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Musa (Collingswood, NJ). Melanie was also the widow of ex-husband, Dennis Reiter, formerly of Beverly, and predeceased by two of their three children, Jessica (Florida) and William (Willingboro, NJ).
Melanie is also survived by Michael’s siblings: Lisa (Mike) Lang, of Edgewater Park, NJ; Karen (Shawn) Fuller, of Panama City, Florida; Noreen (Kenny) Stefano, of Moorestown, NJ; Peter of Burlington, NJ; Janine (Stephen) Carb, of Philadelphia, PA; and Alexander, of Lumberton, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by Michael’s parents, the late Constantine C. Toner and Marie E. Toner, Michael’s brother, Constantine “Con” C. Toner, III, and Michael’s sister-in-law, the late Jeralyn “Jerri” Brett (Peter) Toner. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, 478 Cooper Street, Beverly, NJ, 08010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus, The Good Shepherd Church, 805 Warren Street, Beverly, NJ, 08010. Interment will be private.
