Ethel Vetterman

Ethel Vetterman

Ethel was a spitfire who would do anything for a laugh and a smile. In her younger years she was always out on the go, bidding contracts in bridge and picking up 7/10 splits in her bowling league. And when she moved into assisted living, she was no different, injecting a little life into the place; Ethel was the unofficial entertainment director, doing anything to keep everyone from sitting in front of their televisions. Quieter times found her enjoying novels.
She’d meet a guy named Herb while she was out roller-skating. She joked that she should have just kept skating, but she and the late Herb would be blessed by two daughters: Eileen (Sue Clark) Monroe and Susan (Gary) Polito; 5 grandchildren, Michael (Teresa) Ward, Mark Ward, Terri (Brian) Anthony, Rebecca (Wes) Polito and Eric (Bree) Polito and 8 great grandchildren. She is survived by two terrific nieces who she loved greatly, Cathy West and Beth Lowry. Growing up she was the oldest of 6 kids but outlived them all: “Peck”, Jimmy, Eddie, Madge and Beatty.
Come celebrate 95 great years Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. to noon at Sweeney Funeral Home, Beverly where there will be a noon service. Interment, Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Cemetery, Wrightstown. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Charity of the donor’s choice will be appreciated.
