Mark Fenimore

Mark Fenimore

Marcus Fenimore
He was everybody’s Uncle Mark. Family came first and there was nothing better than Sunday dinners and Thanksgiving and Christmas to bring them all together under his roof. Some said he was set in his ways; most knew he was stubborn. Delanco was in his DNA; he was born and raised; the Fenimore name dates back to a 1677 cornerstone. He lived on his own, never stopped driving and split wood into his nineties. If his T.V was on he’d be checking out old westerns, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. He was a hard-working lineman for PSEG until his retirement though he probably would have preferred being a farmer: for fun he grew corn, peas, tomatoes, peppers and mums. He was never without some Redman chewing tobacco. But, he found his real calling late in life; he was a grandfather for the ages, never missing an opportunity to have his picture taken with the grands.  He was a member of the South Park Gun Club and the American Legion Post 115. Mark was never happier than being out in the woods with a shotgun in hand: his wedding and honeymoon were scheduled around his hunting trips. He served our nation in the Army and made friends wherever he went, even at the Amish market. He made trips out to Lancaster to stay in touch.
Mark grew up on the same block as a girl named Bette Louise. By their late teens they were dating, and before Mark left to serve in the Military, they were engaged.  They wed in 1953, together their lives were blessed by their children: Bette Lou Grob (Dean), Mary Jane Offord (the late Jeff), and Kathi Rossi (Mike), grandchildren: Krystin (Joe), Shaun (Kristy), Amanda, Brian (Marissa), Ryan, Shawn (Devin), and Kasey as well as his great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, William Fenimore and Margaret Hunter, his siblings Howard Norcross, William Fenimore, and Patricia Caputo, and his son in law Norman Davenport.
Come celebrate 92 years Thursday  6-8 p.m. and Monday 9-10 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Interment Monday 11 a.m. at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: American Legion Post 115, 700 Melbourne Ave, Beverly NJ 08010.
