Richard Evans

Richard Evans

Our entire family is incredibly sad to say that Richard Evans (63) of Delran, New Jersey passed on to join our Lord & Savior peacefully Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 while spending his last moment sharing his forever love with his beautiful wife. To know Rich you would have to begin with his younger days. The only son of four children, Rich “never could do wrong” according to his Mother and got away with more than most. He attended Saint Cecelia’s as a child, driving at least a nun or two crazy & went on to graduate from Eastern High School. What he really enjoyed though was taking some risks, running for miles, playing soccer & even hopping a train here & there. He made it through those early years mostly unscathed with his quick wits, problem-solving ability & a bit of luck.

Perhaps though, Rich was most lucky when his soon-to-be wife asked him to her senior prom. From that date on they were inseparable and shared a true love story that will go on long after Rich’s passing. Rich & Donna were married in this lifetime for 42 years, sharing homes in both Pennsauken & Delran, New Jersey. During this time Rich worked incredibly hard for his family by pursuing a career in printing. He spent most of his career working for Tabloid Graphics, and finished his career as a managing supervisor. In Rich’s later years he also found great enjoyment in having the ability to work with longtime friend Jim at JC Hughes Construction.

Rich was a proud member of the Delransignton Crew and was well known for throwing a wrap around horseshoe and helping catch some summertime crabs. He often enjoyed late nights with friends sharing laughs and cold Coors as their kids grew up and into empty nest life. He was a very active father who took pride in teaching his children everything he could think of from riding their bikes to mowing a lawn – and trust us, there is a right/wrong way to do it.

During the day before work Rich could be found down at the river, enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the boats float by. More than anything though, he enjoyed spending his time on his boat with his first mate Donna especially during flounder season at Barnegat Light or taking her for a long drive only to end up at Whistlers once again.

We will remember him most for his ability to make us all laugh, his sense of humor and ability to tell a joke at all times (even some inappropriate times) which has brought joy to all of our lives. We will remember him for the strength & never quit positive attitude that has made us all stronger just by knowing him. Rich is survived by his loving wife Donna, three children Nicole (Kyle), Elizabeth (Alana), and Richard along with his four treasured grandchildren Brianna, Kyleigh, Julia & Joseph.

To celebrate Rich’s amazing adventure of a life we are asking you to join us at Sweeney Funeral Home in Riverside NJ on Sunday, May 30th for a viewing from 10-12 along with a service at 12. In lieu of flowers please make donations to help cover Rich’s end of life medical expenses directly to his wife Donna.
