Thomas J. Scannell

He believed the secret to the best chocolate chip pancakes was to add a smidge of batter to a mountain of chocolate chips. Like many of the dishes he prepared he didn’t eat them; he just loved to watch family enjoy. He was obsessed with the weather channel and could tell you every known fact about Bigfoot, the Lock ness Monster, and Star Wars. His daughters’ school science projects had a tendency to become his own. Sundays were his favorite day; he’d gather his family around him for dinner. In his spare time he was a renaissance man: he loved to paint and listen to classical music. rnA 1963 Dancette in Oaklyn lead to a 25 years marriage to the late Barbara Hoffman, two daughters, Nancy Cousins and JoAnne Scannell, and two grandchildren.rnCome celebrate 69 great years Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro St., Riverside.
