Charles Cripps

He loved to tinker with anything mechanical. Charlie chose the perfect career: he was a service manager for several car dealers in the Delaware Valley. During his career he oversaw repairs on just about every make and model of car. He was a fisherman who owned many a boat and loved the shore. If his TV was on he’d watch 60 Minutes, Dateline or NCIS. He always enjoyed watching Wicked Tuna with his son. But his favorite thing to do was gather his family around him. “What’s new?” he’d always ask.
He went to grammar school with a pretty girl named Doris Haring. They’d reconnect years later while out rollerskating. Nuptials soon followed and, of course, they honeymooned in Wildwood, where they later had a home. They were married 71 years, and were blessed with three children: Russell, Karen (Tony) DeAngelo and the late Gary; five grandchildren: Russell Jr, Brian, Christine, Amy and Steven; and five great-grandchildren: Emma, Hannah, Bella, Mason and Noah.
Come celebrate 91 great years on Monday, September 23rd. Service will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Huntingdon Valley, PA.
