John J Slusarski

He turned a wrench for Bobbitt Plymouth until his retirement, but his true love was farming. Summer nights John came home, ate a quick dinner, then he and his entire household were off to their farm. He grew every vegetable imaginable. He had so much fun farming it was tough to call it work. Good tomatoes were canned, the bad they playfully tossed at each other. Even as an adult John was the biggest kid in Bridgeport. He repaired bikes, built stilts, and played red light/green light with the whole neighborhood. rnHe was never more at home than in the outdoors. In the winter he hunted the Deer Woods with his brothers. They made a cabin aka the man cave. He fished from both the banks of the river and the deep sea. His kids were more than welcome to join him, but they had to dig their own worms. rnHe met a fan named Ruth at a football game. John rooted for Swedesboro High, Ruth for Penns Grove. Their friendly rivalry turned into a 64 year marriage that produced 7 children: Cynthia Goodale, Ruth Ann Hall (John), Cathy Wilson (Matt), John Jr., (Jo Ann), Sandy Richman (Frank), Michael, George (Vickie), 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. John is also survived by a sister, Catherine Slusarski. rnCome celebrate his 86 fun loving years Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday from 9AM at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro where the service will start at 10AM.
