Where there’s a will there’s a way. From early childhood Alice wanted to be a nurse. Refusing to take no for an answer, she forged her father’s name on Cooper Hospital School of Nursing admissions paperwork and headed for the shore to earn enough money for tuition. Patients knew her caring touch as an R.N. at Cooper and Underwood Hospitals and later Gloucester County Visiting Nurses Assoc. and the Health Dept. But she was also the nursing hotline for family and neighbors, doling out advise with bumps, bruises and colds. She reminded her daughters to remember their manners when they left the house, especially on dates, and her chores list taught them how to care for home and family. She sewed everything from dresses to bed spreads to car covers for her Volkswagen. Somehow she found time to raise, can and freeze her garden vegetables. Even on hospice she kept tabs on her Phillies.rnrnShe was the wife of the late George and is survived be her daughters, Charlotte Netherby (Richard) of Wake Forest, NC, Kristine Klotz (Rick) of Huntingdon PA, and Barbara Banff (Tim) of Mullica Hill,; a sister, Anna May Snyder; sister in law, Betty Mollet; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.rnrnCome celebrate 92 caring years Friday 6-8 p.m. at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro and Saturday from 10 a.m. at Holy Nativity Church, 3 Lenape Trail, Wenonah 08090 where there will be a service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
