Edward “Pete” Dugan

Edward Raymond Dugan of Riverside died February 1, 2013 at the age of 93. The youngest of seven children born to James and Jeannette Vennell Dugan, he lived most of his life in Riverside.rn rnKnown to all as “Pete”, he served honorably in the US Army in WWII and faced heavy action during the Battle of the Bulge, experiences he declined to discuss later in life.rn rnHe was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad before joining the Army, Quaker Rubber Company of Philadelphia, then by Riverside Township as a school crossing guard for a period until his retirement. He later spent a great deal of time visiting his older siblings at their homes or nursing facilities, letting them know how much he cared for them. In May of 2012, he entered the Cinnaminson Center and died at Virtua Hospital Mt. Holly on Friday, February 1, 2013.rn rnHe was predeceased by his siblings Emma C. Dugan, Anna Dugan Gross, Charles E. Dugan, and John H. Dugan. Two other brothers, James J. Jr., and Winfield died as very young children.rn rnHe is survived by nieces and nephews Joyce Dugan Walton, Patricia Remmers Dugan, Andrea Gross, Andrew Gross, Susan Gross Szychoski, Patricia Dugan Kramer, James Dugan Gross and Kathleen Dugan Sherfesee; and by several dozen grand-nieces and –nephews and great-grand-nieces and –nephews.rn rnFriends are invited to gather at 10:00 AM Thursday February 7, 2013 at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro St., Riverside, where Moravian services will begin at 11:00 AM., burial to follow at Brigadier General William C.
