Helen Crammer

Helen never lacked a sense of determination. It came in part from her mother, and in part from being a member of the “greatest generation”. The morals, values and manners instilled to her she later passed on to her own children. Along with those, fortunately, she passed on some of her great recipes. She was known for everything from her meat pies to her cookies that won a blue ribbon at a county fair. As far back as WWII she used her sugar rations for baking rather than sweetening coffee. Likewise, she had a tireless work ethic. From the days of picking blueberries and raising Black Angus and horses on her farm in Vincentown, to more recently when she remained self-sufficient into her 90s, she rarely needed help with anything. rn Helen is survived by her daughters: Donna Staples of Maine and Helen Willingham (Ed) of Illinois and her son, Richard Crammer (Jane), with whom she lived in Riverside. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, her 7 great-great grandchildren and her daughter-in-law, Helga Crammer. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur Crammer, Sr., and her son, Wilbur Crammer, Jr.rn Come celebrate Helen’s 96 wonderful years (Mar. 3, 1917-Feb. 14, 2013) Tuesday from 11 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where the service will be at 1 PM. Interment at Jr. Mechanics Cemetery, Tabernacle. rn –
