Harold John Arllen

Harold J (Shorty) Arllen passed away peacefully May 5, 2020 in the Samaritan Hospice Unit at Virtua Memorial Hospital Mt Holly. He was 92 years old.

Born November 3, 1927 in Camden, NJ, he was the son of Harold L and Louise M Arllen. The family moved to Southampton when Harold was 11 years old. After graduating from Pemberton High School, Harold served two years in the US Navy as a store keeper aboard ship. When he returned home he worked for several years at Lakehurst Naval Station as a shop keeper. In 1956 he started work at McGuire AFB as an instrument mechanic for the 438th AMS instrument shop, retiring in 1983.

Harold was predeceased by his loving wife MaryO (Stambaugh) Arllen in 2009 after 54 years of marriage. He is survived by his children James, Mary Lou (Hugh) Green, Ellen (William) Sweet, and Karen Ruza. He is also survived by grandsons James Arllen Jr, Patrick Green, and Joshua Ruza. He was predeceased by grandson Jesse Sweet (2016) and son-in-law John Ruza (2020).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Samaritan Hospice Mt Holly, NJ.

Funeral and Memorial Services are to be private due to the current pandemic and enforced social distancing in place at this time.
