Carlos – Serrano

The Food network gave Carlos great fodder for kitchen adventure. Shrimp and soups were among his specialties. He not only entertained his extended family with jokes and backyard barbeques, he experimented with spices and herbs to please their palates. The setting would not be complete without Spanish music in the background . As a young man he learned the food industry working in a Bronx supermarket. He earned enough to be the only boy with a car, an unusual purchase in the city. The market gave him more than a paycheck: it was where he noticed Marilyn, his wife. He swept her off her feet when he met her coming off the bus and offered to carry her book bag home. Owning a sharp car also helped. Even though they relocated to South Jersey he remained a Mets and Giants fan. They came to Logan Twp. to raise their children in a more serene setting. Carlos could be found delivering Hostess Cakes to area markets.rnHe married that Bronx girl, Marilyn 36 years ago and they were blessed with a daughter, Melissa and a son, Christopher. Carlos is also survived by his mother, Gloria, a brother, Edwin, and a sister, Gloria Martinez.
