Thomas Harasyn

Thomas J. Harasym, 72, from Burlington Township NJ, passed away on October 19th, 2022.

“Yello! How the hell are ya?” was the greeting friends and family were met with every time Tom talked with them.

Tom was born on January 10th, 1950, in Staten Island, NY to Julius and Eleanor Harasym. He attended Curtis High School where he was a member of the band “The Anonymous Sound” before graduating in 1968. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and served 4 years honorably.

After his military service, he started his career as a telephone technician with the New York Telephone Company, serving for 30 years before retiring in 2000.

In June of 1981, he met the love of his life, Maggie, on the Staten Island Ferry. After a whirlwind 6-week romance, they were engaged and married on October 16th, 1982. They would spend 40 wonderful years together, being blessed with 3 children Michael (Becky), Katie (Micah) Faust, and Jonathan (Amanda).

After retiring, Tom enjoyed spending time at his camper, photography (even had a dark room in his home when that was a thing), solving his crosswords and Sudoku’s, fishing and playing Bingo. Tom was known for his quick wit and his countless comebacks.

In 2003, Tom and his family moved to Burlington Township, NJ. He spent a few years working at Mattson’s Market as the Produce Manager. Never giving up his NY roots, he was a fan of the NY Yankees and loved his NY Football Giants. He also supported the local sports teams, such as the Philadelphia Phillies; the Philadelphia Eagles…not so much.

In 2010, Tom had the honor of being called “Pop-Pop”, having 4 grandchildren Rylee, Kensley, Cameron, and Jaydin. Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandkids with sleepovers, taking trips to his camper in Pennsylvania, cooking breakfast, and never missing an event.

In Tom’s world, when it was time to depart, it was never Goodbye but see you later. He is survived by his sister Judith (James) Brown.

Come celebrate 72 great years of Tom’s life on Wednesday October 26, 2022, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Beverly where there will be an 11 a.m. service.
