Harry Dahlman passed away on April 15th, 2023, at the age of 77. Harry’s battle with cancer over the years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a “Grouch” smile. Despite the pain, Harry came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Harry was born to Robert and Veronica Dahlman on January 21st, 1946. After graduating from high school, Harry began his lifelong career with the state of New Jersey Department of Corrections, retiring as a Lieutenant.
Later in life he met the love of his life, Susan, and they spent 34 years of marriage together. He was proud to step into the role of dad to Tim and Alecia and Poppop to 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Harry was a lifelong motorcycle rider, enjoyed shooting guns, and playing pool. He spent countless hours doing crossword puzzles and always loved watching A Christmas Story. He was a huge Eagles fan, but not so much the Cowgirls. What brought him the greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and seeing all the accomplishments that they achieved.
Harry was a member of the Elks Lodge #2550 in Edgewater Park for 33 years where he made many memories and lifelong friends.
To honor Harry’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on Sunday, April 30th, at 3:00 pm with an Elk’s Service at 4:00 pm. We invite anyone who knew Harry to come and share their favorite memories with his family, where we will raise a glass (or three) to the most memorable Grouch we all knew and loved. Please join us at the Elk’s Lodge at 315 Green Street, Beverly, NJ 08010.
