He was a familiar sight with his big smile and bucket hat: Garry had a joyous way about him and was always ready with a great comment. He worked as hard as anyone both as a mechanic and an electrician. Relaxing to him was heading to someone’s house looking for a project with a beer in hand if it was ripping something apart or rebuilding it. Half-way through any project he would reinvent the wheel and want it done his way, cause your way was all wrong!! Sometimes he was more work than help, but he was always there for you. Of course, Garry was always a guy on the move: his E bike was his prize possession (he was quite the traveler on it) and he knew every bus and light rail schedule to the minute. Bonfires and barbeques at Steve and Kris’ house will never be the same for the family and friends gathered. Garry was raised in Delran and attended Delran High School Class of ’81. He is going to be missed by many just for the laughs if not the help!
He is survived by his siblings: Steve (Kris), John (Lynne) and Barbara (George) Downing, sister-in-law, Dawn Bigwood and many nieces and nephews. Garry was predeceased by his parents, William and Thelma Bigwood, and siblings William, Harold, Billy, Betty and April who was his guardian angel and who he lived with for many years until she passed.
Come celebrate 60 great years Monday December 18th, 10 to noon at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside where there will be a noon service. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
