Darlene A. Tomasura

A stubborn yet beautiful soul, Darlene had a knack for seeing the best in people, always embracing them with love no matter what…Her heart was made of gold mixed with a hint of spice…Only the lucky ones got to see both sides of her. Spending time with ones she loved made her so happy. On an occasion she made memories by having random sleepovers at all of her children’s houses that would last weeks to even months at a time. From late night shenanigans with Uno bets and having many cook-offs….. Looking back now, none of her kids would have wanted it any other way. Memories that will last a lifetime and she will forever be in their hearts.

Over the years there were so many memories that made her very proud to be a mother and grandmother. She got to watch all four of her children and her oldest grandson get handed a high school diploma…Also to have the Honor to walk her youngest daughter down the aisle to the song “I hope you dance.”

The interesting thing about Darlene was she always needed noise, and if there wasn’t any she would whistle a tune… By doing so she taught her grandchildren how to whistle.  She was the type of grandmother that you would want your children to have. From “making deals”, to giving them extra spending money, or doing their chores so they had a break while she visited, playing card games, and swimming in the country.

As Darlene would say “to make the time go faster” she would be sitting outside soaking in the fresh air looking at catalogs to plan for holidays, talk to anyone who walked by, or even planting the most beautiful flowers she could get her hands on. Treasure hunting at yard sales was legendary though, often remarking with a grin, “always use the same $20 twice, because you could never pass up a good deal”. Whether she was gifting prizes to others or shopping for herself, Darlene’s generosity never held no bounds. Her  life was a mosaic of adventure, love, and warmth, filled with memories of wheeling and dealing with people, or reading Beverly Lewis Amish books, all the time spent with the people and pets she cherished the most…

She always loved singing  “Jesus take the wheel” or “Bless the broken road”  or even “I swear.”

Needless to say she will be remembered for her zest for life, her endless creativity from  painting ceramics, making curtains, tie dying,  stained glass, and  so many other things.

Her passion for life was unique. She lived everyday like it was her last. She would talk about the trips she wanted to take like going to the Catskill mountains to meet Santa with her granddaughters. She also wanted to take this trip with her oldest daughter and her spouse to the smoky mountain to enjoy a real Native American powwow..

A long time ago Darlene was young and in love she had the most amazing time in Egypt. She said it was so beautiful that she would go back in a heartbeat.

Over the years she traveled by driving without any type of GPS. A lot of the time she was taking the scenic route, going on a road trip she didn’t know she needed to be on.

She’s at peace now looking over her ones she left behind… She’ll forever be their  guardian angel. Until they meet again.

Darlene is survived by her four children, and her grandchildren Issiah, Xavier, EmmaLeigh, and Peyton, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
