James E. Wade
James E. Wade passed away peacefully on November 12th surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife Diane Wade, his children James (Jacqueline) Wade and Lisa (Philip) Faiss, grandchildren Christopher, James, Delaney, Mollee, Grace and siblings Barbra Duchnosky and Mathew Wade.
A memorial service will be held at Sweeney’s in Riverside on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 12:00 until 1:00 pm. In lieu of seeding flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at: https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate
Jim was born in Philadelphia on April 5th 1938. Jim spent his youth in and around Philadelphia, which even included some years living in Galloway Township, NJ. While living by the shore, Jim could be seen helping out on the family farm, fishing by the bay with his father and brothers, or working at the local blueberry farm picking blueberries
When Jim was around 16, his mother decided to move to California. Jim would tell that he had to drive his sister all the way across the county in a car that didn’t have power steering. Jim loved cars and motorcycles. He even rode his Indian Motorcycle across the country one and half times. Unfortunately, his bike broke down in Gallup, New Mexico the second time around and had to hitch hike the rest of the way to California. Jim enjoyed working on cars too. He even once used the kids’ old swing set in his driveway to hoist an engine out of the car he was working on, which definitely sounded like him because he always seemed to have figured out a way to get the job done.
Jim eventually moved back to the East Coast. While he was at a bowling alley in Willow Grove, Jim met the love of his life, Diane. The two were married in 1965 and remained lifelong partners. Jim became a drywall taper for Local Union 1955 and stayed with them until his retirement. Soon Jim was a father to Jimmy and Lisa and was enjoying going Down the Shore where he enjoyed much of his time as a child. Jim took pride in working on his own home, and he could do it all too, plumbing, electrical, etc…
In his free time, Jim enjoyed ham radio, which is when you use hand-held radios to communicate with other people from all around the world. He also enjoyed going to flea markets to pick up and sell hand-held radios and equipment.
In his retirement years, Jim would enjoy working around his house or working on one of his children’s homes. He also enjoyed technology and liked putting computers together and giving them to his children and grandchildren.
Jim was a kind, honest, hard-working, gifted craftsman, who always put his family first. Those who were fortunate to have known him will always remember and miss him.
