CURRENT CELEBRATIONS
Kenneth “Ken” Edward James Sr.
Kenneth was a man of quiet strength and profound humility; someone whose reserved nature belied a deeply giving heart. He was the first to lend a hand when someone was in need, the first to step forward as a volunteer, and the last to seek recognition for his efforts. He was never happier than when standing by his grill, expertly flipping hot dogs, hamburgers, and steaks, with his homemade schnitzel burger being a family favorite.
A proud participant in the Boy Scouts with his son Kenny, he cherished the memories they made together. He was a fan of TV classics, Kenneth could often be found watching “Walker, Texas Ranger,” Chuck Norris films, “NCIS,” 80s action movies, and old Westerns. These shows spoke to his admiration for heroes—both fictional and real—who lived by a code of honor and integrity.
After retiring, Kenneth and his beloved wife Jennifer embarked on two grand adventures that became life-long memories. They revisited Tucson, Arizona, where Kenneth had been stationed years earlier, reconnecting with old friends and revisiting places steeped in history and personal meaning. They also took unforgettable trips to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and the Acadia Mountains in Maine, marveling at the beauty of nature and the stories etched into the landscape.
Closer to home, Kenneth and Jennifer enjoyed dinners at Adelphia and Prospectors, sharing their love for good food and good company. Kenneth’s fondness for country music events was a testament to his appreciation for life’s simpler pleasures.
The love story of Kenneth and Jennifer was one for the ages. Their journey began thanks to Jennifer’s sister-in-law Sandy, who introduced them with the promise of a “nice girl” for Kenneth to meet. To their amazement, they discovered they had attended the same high school but had never crossed paths. Fate, however, had a plan, and once they met, they knew they were destined for one another. Their bond was unbreakable, built on 50 years of unwavering love and companionship that only deepened with time.
Time with his grandchildren was among Kenneth’s greatest joys. He didn’t need grand activities to create lasting memories; simply being present, and watching their laughter was enough. Kenneth’s legacy will live on in their hearts and lives.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Jessica and Kenneth (Dayna); his grandchildren: Jesse, Nikko, and Kaiyah; siblings: Doris and Virginia; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings: William, Joseph, Sylvia, Richard, Francis, Thomas, Howard, Roberette, and Phillip
