“It is easy to halve the potato when there is love” – Irish Saying which means, it’s easy to share when you love someone.rnLorraine had a never-ending supply of potatoes, but she also had an endless supply of love. Her friends certainly knew this. From the time she was a student at St. Casimir School in Riverside, to recently, she always had many friends, most of whom, referred to her as their “very best friend”. She was always ready to listen, and when needed, she had the best advice. Her love also showed through her generosity. Lorraine was always donating money and items (new and used) to family, friends, Good Will, Veterans Organizations and the Salvation Army just to name a few. But most will remember the love that went into her cooking and making “The Best Potato Salad Ever.” While this had always been a staple to family and friends, her 30 years as owner of The Lumberton Post-Deli introduced it to the masses. When she was not working, she loved to play and watch tennis, was always up for some dancing and if her TV was not tuned to Dancing with the Stars, it surely had the Eagles or Phillies on it. rn rnA casino’s worst nightmare, Lorraine’s luck knew no bounds. She rarely lost to the one-armed bandits in Atlantic City and Philadelphia, and had a knack when it came to scratch-offs and bingo. Having a perfect sense of timing when it came to any contest or drawing, she won t-shirts, radios, two bicycles, a week at WMMR’s Beach House and even a brand new Cadillac Seville. But her luckiest moment was when her life was blessed, on one Mother’s Day, by the birth of her son, Matthew. From the days she watched him play little league baseball to the wonderful education that she was able to give him, to when he devoted himself to caring for her in her struggle with mesothelioma, he was always a great sense of pride for Lorraine. rnBorn of John Grzybowski and Theresa Mikalajczewski, Lorraine is survived by her only child, her son, Matthew of Voorhees. Also survived are her two step-children: Marla of Yeadon, Pa and Howard of Edgewater Park.rn Come celebrate Lorraine’s 71 wonderful years (Sept. 14, 1939-Mar. 6, 2011) Thursday from 8-10 AM at the Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside.
