Ruth J. Bascio

Ruth J. Bascio

Born and raised in Riverside, Ruth had a love for her hometown and the home she built there. She was kind, loving, a devoted mother, and someone who found her greatest pride and joy in her daughters. She was an active and involved mother, always present for school projects and proudly participating in the PTA at St. Casimir. Ruth was incredibly talented and creative. Ruth’s beautifully arranged tables and thoughtful place settings became a signature of her gatherings, making everyone feel welcome and special. Many Halloweens were made extra special because of the costumes she lovingly crafted by hand.

In her quieter moments, Ruth enjoyed sipping tea with her neighbors and sharing conversation. She cherished the simple joys in life, especially dinners at the Route 130 Diner with her beloved late husband, Joe. Her summers were spent in Long Beach Island at the family shore house. As a grandmother, Ruth’s love only grew. In her younger years with her grandchildren, she found joy in baking sweet treats, playing games, and making cherished Saturday night trips to the mall.

Ruth was also blessed with an incredible caregiver, Nino, who became so much more than that, she became family. Together, they enjoyed “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” often singing along and creating moments of pure joy. Nino’s loyalty, love, and companionship brought comfort and happiness to Ruth’s life in her later years.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Ruthann (Kevin) Wolverton and Joann (Jim) Mullarkey; grandchildren, Ryan (Lauren) Wolverton, Kelly (Jared) Hess, Nicholas Mullarkey and Tyler Mullarkey; and seven great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Payton Hess, Jackson, James, and Roman Wolverton, and Lacey and Finley Mullarkey. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Bascio.
