Alice put everyone else first, especially her family. She raised her six children mostly on her own: not the strictest mom but her mom look made it clear what was expected. She was a fun mom and expected the same of her kids. Behind the stove she was the master of comfort food; her spaghetti tasted like home. She liked horror films, especially the classics. None better than Jaws. If her T.V. was on she’d be watching some old Little House on the Prairie, Yellowstone or Chicago Fire. And she loved the music of Rod Stewart and Allen Jackson. She liked to take in the sights at the Diesel Truck Nationals and the Cowtown Rodeo and the tastes of Pespi and Tastycakes. Of course, her favorite times were just taking the family out for a ride, discovering what’s at the end of a country road; usually just the changing leaves, but that was more than enough.
She is survived by her children, Walter William (Nicole) Shively, Sandra Sharp, Kimberly (Keith Thomas) Kiper, Sam (Chrissy) Kiper, Daniel (Sarah) Dobbins, and Robert (Shannon Denney) Dobbins; 11 grandchildren; her siblings, Linda Shively, Sue Johnson, Mark Shively, Jeff Shively, and Mary Shively-Kiper; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ethel May Kiper and her spouse and step father of her children, Nicholas Akkerman.
