Angelina Jay Tomarchio

It has been said that there is no glamour of poetry to light up the ferocious and endless toil of the farmer’s wife. Jay knew this well, but never seemed bothered by it. Always a farming girl, she knew how to drive a tractor and spot vegetables from birth. But even at the day’s end she did not sit with idle hands. Her quilting skills earned her a blue ribbon at a Salem Co. Fair, and, more importantly, let her adorn her children and grandchildren with quilts she made special for them. But when Jay did have a second to spare, she could often be found reading. Sometimes it was a romance novel, but more likely she’d be immersed in a mystery. As Past President of the American Legion Post #452 Auxiliary in Woodstown, her patriotism always shown through. But perhaps nothing was more important to her than family. Visits with the grandkids or a family outing were the most special times for Jay.rnrnAngelina must have been nervous when her parents arranged for her to marry a young man named Angelo. But their 59 years together before his passing in 2006 certainly proves that her folks knew what they were doing. Jay would later be blessed with her children: Sebastiano “Benny” (Cookie) and Frances Butterbaugh (Allen), grandchildren: Angela Daley, Marianne Demarco, Frank Butterbaugh and Angelo Tomarchio and great-grandchildren: Joey and Matthew Demarco.rnrnCome celebrate 87 smiling years Wednesday 6-8 PM and Thursday 8:30-9:15 AM at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro.
