Barbara Church

Barbara Church

Barbara was known for her strength; feisty her whole life through. You never had to wonder if she had your back. Relaxing times found her heading off to Atsion Lake and out into the wilderness to do a little pheasant hunting alongside her husband. She was a great cook, even if it was something simple as a hardboiled egg sandwich. She had worked at CVS as a clerk and as a waitress for a few years but found her real calling as a grandmother to Hailey, KK, Lizzy, Becca, Jill and Jacob. She never had more fun than when she had them over to her pool. She loved the sounds of classic rock (especially Tom Petty) and cheered for the Steelers.
She’d meet a handsome guy named Garry; they’d enjoy 30 years together. She is survived by her stepchildren, Garry Jr. (Jennifer) and Ashley (Jason) Kee; and her siblings, Harry (Georgann) Beatty, Roberta Cabrera, William (Sharon) Hanks, Charles (Norma) Hanks, Linda (George) Warriner, Louise (Mark) Weaver, Christopher (Annette) Blackmon; and many nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Robert Hanks and Grace Blackmon.
Come celebrate 62 great years Monday April 21st, 10 to 11 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Beverly where there will be an 11 a.m. Storytime service. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington.
