Barbara L. Hardy Simpkins

Barbara L. Hardy Simpkins

Barbara found her calling in life as a wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family, cooking and baking as well as picnics & parades.

She loved to snuggle & care for her grandchildren, driving them to school, helping with their homework, playing at the park, and taking frequent day trips to museums and the zoo.

You never had to guess what she was thinking; Barbara was assertive throughout all her days, especially if you forgot to water her flowers, particularly her orchids.

She was a Sunday School teacher at the Church of the Nazarene in Bristol, PA and Mt. Laurel, NJ. She enjoyed her family vacations to the beach & mountains, as well as Florida, Texas & N.Y. If her TV was on, she’d be enjoying the adrenaline rush of “shoot ‘em up bang bang” movies, and she loved the sounds of country and gospel music.

She’d meet a handsome guy named Bill and share a 57 and ¾ year marriage blessed by daughters, Barbara Ann Capra (Michael) and Susan Simpkins-Mickle; grandchildren, Marissa and Ian and great-grandchild, Carson. She is survived by her sister, Beulah “Boots” Richards; nieces and nephews, Linda Bush (Frank), Steve Richards, Tarra Allen (Melvin) Greg Hardy and Kimberly Smith (John). Barbara was pre-deceased by her niece, Robin Richards; brother, Amos Hardy Jr. (the late Janet).

Come celebrate and honor 82 wonderful years Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, 10-11 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, 337 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside, where there will be an 11 a.m. service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery, Burlington NJ.
