Betty Lou Wiest

Betty Lou was an accomplished lady. She could knit, crochet, garden, sew, teach Sunday school, be a den mother or girl scout leader and keep score at baseball games. In addition she found time to travel, volunteer at the library, and work at the motor vehicle agency and in her early years for the Bell Telephone Co. But her most important and most enjoyable position was as a mom raising six children and a few grandchildren. When her children were in school Betty Lou never missed a baseball or football game. Her later years found her living in a cabin in the woods by a lake, marveling at nature, watching birds and counting deer. She married the late Robert “Dave” Wiest in 1950 and they were blessed with six children: Robert Jr.(Donna), Edward (Valerie), John (Dana), and Kathleen Wiest. And was pre deceased by a daughter, Linda Bradford and a son, Richard. Also surviving are sisters: Ruth Steedley, Dorothy Flitcraft, and Mimi Barone; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by grandchildren: Karen Inabinet and Lauren Wiest; a sister Clara Krape; two brothers, Warren Van Culin and Thornton Tongue. Come celebrate 83 giving years, Saturday from 11am at The Presbyterian Church, Auburn Rd., Woodstown where the memorial service will begin at 11:30am. Burial private. Donations to the Woodstown Pilesgrove Library, 14 School Lane Woodstown, NJ 08098 will be appreciated. –
