CURRENT CELEBRATIONS
Amber McHugh
Amber could impart that “can do” attitude into anyone: many relied on her abilities to get things done. She was just plain good at life. She was even able to convince her kids that she, along with her partner Norman were Power Rangers. Her attitude probably dated back to her days in high school when she took woodshop and built her family’s kitchen table. She was our go to when we needed anything: technical, handy, proofreading, babysitting, the list goes on. You were excited when she arrived but seldom saw when she left: Amber was famous for her Irish Goodbyes and dry sense of humor. Amber always had a little smirk. If you were in her circle, she had your back 100 percent: ride or die for life. She was hyper competitive in everything she did from board games to her soccer career at Palmyra High School. Many joked that she wasn’t above cheating to earn the win. She loved music from 70’s rock to Biggie Smalls-“if you don’t know, now you know.” She was a graduate of Stockton and had her Masters from Holy Family. Amber was smart. Autumn and Ashlee always joked that Amber was the one who never studied, but always got the best grades. She was a teacher and literary coach in Chester and Camden. Her patience with children and her guidance with her co-workers was admirable to all.
Her job at Sunrise Senior Living earned her more than just a paycheck. It’s there she’d meet a handsome sous chef named Norman Nelson. Their relationship was blessed with two children, Nathan and Evelynn. She is survived by her mother, Colleen McHugh; her sisters, Autumn Cotton (Keith) and Ashlee. She was the daughter of the late James.
