Antonio Santos

Antonio Santos

He was the embodiment of the American dream. Tony came to the United States from Portugal and built a better life, and three terrific companies along the way: Delcon Builders, Pentel Drywall and SCS Concrete. The businesses started small; just his brother Victor, a van and some tools. And it got smaller still when the van was stolen the night before the launch of the company. They were later joined by a Third partner Anthony Aguiar. Tony had the drive of 10 men, but it may have been his respect for people that propelled him the furthest. He only cared about your character; race and creed meant nothing to him. He was forceful in his ways and honest to a fault, but when he may have gone a little too far, Tony was the first to offer up an apology: people meant much more than his pride. His work ethic was extreme, but he also knew how to let loose and have a good time. His happiest place was probably down at his home in LBI though he had the opportunity to recently complete his dream home in Moorestown. He loved cars and you’d often see him tooling around in his Ferrari heading off to the gym: Tony was proud to show off his toned body. It wasn’t just from the gym; he cycled with the best of them, sometimes all the way down to LBI. He cooked a little of everything (the joy was doing it for others, especially the workers at his company) and he danced like no one was watching. He had a love of animals; always a few dogs around and his parrot knew some colorful phrases in two languages. Argo, Chanel, and Sammy have him in their heart.

He’d meet a pretty girl named Isabel on a bus trip to Montreal. The consummate salesman assumed the sale: he told her he’d marry her. She wasn’t so sure. Right as usual, they’d share a joyous, 40-year marriage blessed by a son, Daniel and his wife Ema. He is survived by his brother, Victor Santos, sister Fatima Bastos, and father Manuel Santos.
