CURRENT CELEBRATIONS

Catherine Nuckowski

Catherine Nuckowski

Christmas was Catherine’s favorite time of the year, hosting Christmas Eve, working all day for her  seven fishes dinner to be plated, along with her famous pierogies.  A tradition her family would cherish for years to come. Catherine enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including trips to the casino where she tried her luck with the slots. Boscovs was her go-to spot, where she could always be found browsing for a bargain. Her adventurous spirit was evident in her travels, Catherine and Al drove across the country three times, embracing the open road and the freedom it brought.

Catherine was a giving person who was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and also crocheted prayer shawls for the church for anyone who was in need of one. Her attention to detail was also seen in her volunteering of money counting, a task she approached with the same dedication she showed to everything she did for the church. If her TV was on, General Hospital would usually be playing, unless she wanted to challenge you in Wheel of Fortune.

Catherine found her real calling later in life as a grandmother. Her house was the place to be, mostly because of her pool and the pizza and hoagies. Her infectious love for her grandchildren was shown in many ways, especially the family trips she would take to LBI and the Poconos.

Catherine is predeceased by her husband Albert Nuckowski.

Catherine is survived by her children: Julie (Dan) Lomas and David Nuckowski; grandchildren: Michelle (Art), Steven (Kristen), and Kate (Jason); great-grandchildren: Chloe, Elle, and Skylar; her brother: Ed Shinn and sister: Eleanor Bursztynski.
