CURRENT CELEBRATIONS
Charles P. Joo
Charles was Riverside through and through: born and bred. A graduate of Riverside High excelling at football and basketball, and was inducted into the Riverside Athletic Hall of Fame. He loved to go out and eat and was a regular at every Rt. 130 diner and Carluccis. If his T.V. was on he’d be watching some football and he played a little golf from time to time. His garden was plentiful and Charles was generous with the bounty feeding family, friends and half of his neighborhood. If he got loose from the area, he’d most likely be found with a rod in hand beside the water or off to A.C with his sister, Mary. He retired from the Courier Post, served our nation in the Army Airforce during WWII as waist gunner on B-17s flying 29 missions, and was the recipient of the Valor Award with Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Service Award. He was a former member of the Riverside Fire Company. But, first and foremost, he loved the Lord: a lifelong member of St. Casimir.
He is survived by his brother, F. George Joo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his significant other, Stella Hekierski; his parents, Mary and Charles Joo; siblings, Emil Joo, Lillian Waters, Mary Burk, John “Jack” Joo, and Betty Giles.
Visitation will be semi-private with family, close friends, and neighbors.
