CURRENT CELEBRATIONS
Daniel Joseph Heron
Daniel was a true one of a kind—a funny, unique, and unforgettable presence in the lives of everyone who knew him. Daniel was an only child who grew up immersed in the lively atmosphere of Heron’s Tavern, a Tavern started by his parents, the late Charles and Rita. When it was his turn to take over, he carried on the family tradition, serving the community with cold drinks, warm laughs, and his famous roast beef sandwiches. Daniel’s life was filled with passions that brought him joy and stories to tell. He enjoyed hunting with the Square Circle Clementon Hunting Club, where he forged lifelong friendships. Fishing was another pass time for Daniel, which also created some of his fondest memories, a recent fishing trip with his grandsons ended with a post-adventure Taco Bell run, encapsulating his love for simple pleasures and family time. As a proud U.S. Army veteran Daniel carried the discipline and values he learned in service into every aspect of his life. He enjoyed bowling, darts, and shuffleboard, softball, and touch-football; his competitive spirit shone in all of them. At the same time, he was a reader who could lose himself in a good book. But for Daniel, family always came first. He had a playful spirit with his three daughters growing up, never saying no to them putting barrettes in his hair and beard. Known as “Grandpop,” he was his grandkids’ biggest fan, never missing a game or event, cheering them on with pride. Daniel and his wife Carol spent 52 years married, and they enjoyed time together with their children, grandchildren and extended family.
Daniel is survived by his wife Carol and his three daughters Kelli, Amy (Dave), and Meghann (Jason). His grandchildren Owen, Andrew, Olivia, Samuel, and Nolan, and his nieces who were like his extended daughters to him, Shana and Melissa.
