CURRENT CELEBRATIONS

Donald Wampler Jr.

Donald Wampler Jr.

Don was a master storyteller.  Trick was that he had lots of practice telling one of eight stories that he had in rotation.  They all started off with the familiar “remember when…”  He may have bowled for fun, but there weren’t many better: many a 299 and his name is up on the wall for a perfect 300.  Might have been that he just like mastering things.  Craps was such an endeavor: Donald bet many a 2 dollar at the Golden Nugget.  If it was broke, Don could fix it: he turned a wrench with the best of them.  He wasn’t a great cook (hamburger helper was about as extravagant as he got) but he made the best Cherry Cheesecake; the recipe handed down from his grandmother.  On T.V he’d check out 2 and a half men and check in with the crew from Cheers. He did Disney with his kids in their younger years, hiked Bowman’s Hill Tower and spent many a day at the Delaware Water Gap.

He is survived by his sons: Donald (Stephanie) Wampler III, Daniel (Katie) Wampler, and Douglas Wampler; grandchildren: Michael, Giuliana, Emma, and Dylan; siblings; Donna (Scott) McGillivray and Janet (Mark) Hopkins; his mother, Betty Wampler and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Wampler Sr.
