FLORENCE (nee Zach) KEMPISTA

May 10, 1923 – March 5, 2025

“Our Star of Stage, Screen and Sewing Machine”

Florence enjoyed life for 101 ¾ years. Self-taught and with God-given talent, Florence fashioned clothing for customers throughout the world for over 75 years. Her impeccably crafted designs were labeled “Mister Ed Originals”.

She won runner-up in the Ms. Senior New Jersey Pageant and performed her talent throughout the Delaware Valley. She was a movie extra in ‘The Age of Innocence’. She was awarded “Queen” at Polka Dance School in Philadelphia.

For 37 years, she was a Delran poll worker. She was also a member of Cinnaminson Community Chorus and various senior organizations.

She acted as Mrs. Santa Claus for township and church affairs. She enjoyed making Polish foods and baking delicious cakes.

Survived by daughter Loretta Davies of Williamsburg, VA; daughter and son-in-law Denice and John Becker of Riverside, NJ; grandsons Daniel Felice (Zena), Jeffrey May (Melissa) and Robert Becker; great-granddaughters Elaina Kelley (Michael) and Michaela Dean; and great-great-grandson Charlie Kelley; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by several family members including her husband of 37 years Edward S. Kempista, her daughter Nancee May, her grandson Michael May and her husband of 10 years Harry B. Fisher.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Riverside, Florence was a member of St Casimir’s Parish and is now a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Arrangements by Sweeney Funeral Home with Zion Lutheran Church –

Saturday, March 15, 2025, 9-11am visitation; 11am service; followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
