Frank P Karmade Jr.

Frank P Karmade Jr.

Most days it was pretty easy to find Frank: he’d be hanging out at Washington Fire Company #1. He joined the department in 1956 as a firefighter and loved every minute of it. In his early years he was a member of the Emergency Squad and an ambulance driver and he played softball on the firehouse team in the late 70’s. He was Active Fire Police, an Exempt Fireman and also a Life Member. In 1978 Frank was Fireman of the Year and he was Chief driver since 1970 and still maintained many of the company’s vehicles, his favorite truck being the 53′ Seagrave. He also helped out the Delanco EMS whenever needed. Frank also worked for Delanco Township public works. He was a man’s man: he loved Westerns and anything with Clint Eastwood but also had a soft spot for dogs and loved hugs. He didn’t have many vices but certainly loved playing the lottery.

Frank is survived by his children: Trisha Aguirre, Louis Karmade, and Jennifer Karmade; his grandchildren: Hector, Gabrielle, Anthony, Taylor, Colin, Aiden, Daulton, Kylie, Bryan, and Eddy; his great-grandchildren: Isabella and Jaxon; great-great uncle of:  Alexis, Trey, Dez, Scarlett, and Harrison; his siblings: Joy Polumbi, and Mary (Frank) Nikolet, and his nieces: Debra, Dawn, and Darlene (the three queens). He was the great uncle of Laura, Anthony, Ron, Paige, Erica and Dylan. He was predeceased by his brother David Karmade, grandson Brandon Scott, and step brother David McCord.

Come celebrate 83 great years Saturday 9 a.m.-noon at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, where there will be a noon service. Interment Oddfellows Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Washington Fire Company, 1800 Burlington Ave., Delanco NJ 08075.
