Gertrude “Patsy” Haran

Gertrude “Patsy” Haran

August 7, 1936 – September 12, 2024

Patsy Haran, of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born to the late Joe and Gert Provenzano, and the loving wife of the late Jimmy Haran. She was the favorite sister of Cookie Bucci, mother to Tricia and Terri Haran, grandmother to Christina Daly and Elizabeth Haran, and great-grandmother to Norah and Hannah Daly.
In 1955, she met her classmate Jimmy Haran at Hershey’s in Riverside, and between a boost and a pretzel, they fell in love. They were married on June 16, 1956, and moved into the family homestead at 4 Chester Avenue, Riverside. The little family grew in 1958 when Pasty gave birth to Tricia Haran, and in 1963 they lovingly adopted Terri Haran. She became Aunt Patsy to four nephews when her sister Cookie and husband Butter Bucci welcomed Johnny, Michael, Doug, and Ryan into their family.
Patsy went to Pierce Business School in Philadelphia and spent most of her years working as a jeweler for Galdo’s, Riverside Jewelers, Tapan’s, and Cinnaminson Jewelers. Patsy loved the retail jewelry business and frequently missed the high heels she wore to work each day. At this time she also met her best friend Fred Zampino. Patsy, Jimmy, and Fred were like the three musketeers and enjoyed many adventures together. In 1979 she retired from her long sales days to spend more time with family.
Patsy’s true joy came when her grandkids were born, Christina and Elizabeth. Then when Christina married Brian Daly, her great-grandkids, Norah and Hannah came along. That was the beginning of another joyful adventure for her.

Patsy has joined her loved ones in heaven Joe, Gert, Jimmy, Butter, Fred and Sister Irene, but she leaves behind a long list of Family and Friends whom she loved. She will be missed by her daughters and granddaughters and has become a guardian angel for her great-granddaughters. In addition, Cookie’s family and her nieces and nephews of the Haran family will miss their Aunt Patsy. We all have fond and treasured memories of picnics, parties, LBI vacations, and her beloved pool time. Her friends who joined us around the kitchen table helped make so many great memories for our whole family with all of your love and laughter. You are more than friends, you are family to us. The family thanks you for your love, prayers and support you have sent our way.

Family and friends are invited to join Patsy’s family in a celebration of her life on Saturday morning, September 21. There will be a viewing at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside, from 8:00am to 10:00am. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Casimir Church, Riverside, followed by a prayer service at St. Peter Cemetery, Riverside. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 260 Conrow Rd. Delran, NJ 08075.
