Jean Vernon Wenner

Jean Vernon Wenner

Jean had a friendly nature and could strike up a conversation with anyone—often engaging in long, heartfelt talks. She worked as a legal secretary for Daniel Lichtenthal, where her meticulous work and kind demeanor were appreciated by all who knew her. Born and raised in Riverside, Jean was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was an active member for over 70 years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She sang in the church choir, often being requested to lend her voice at weddings. Along with her singing talents, she didn’t stop there, Jean was an accomplished pianist. In her younger years, Jean loved hosting Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving gatherings, creating cherished memories for her family. Frequenting the library, Jean found great solace in her books. Jean was also a devoted Phillies fan, enjoying many games over the years. She was a loving grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren, whether dining out at any restaurant or simply enjoying each other’s company. Her culinary skills were legendary within the family; she could whip up anything from delicious spaghetti to her famous vegetable soup. Jean was also a talented baker, known especially for her exquisite pies: blueberry, pumpkin, and apple being family favorites. Jean was a wonderful mother, deeply devoted to her four boys. Her family meant everything to her, and she shared a loving 62-year marriage with her late husband, George Wenner.
